School Notes saves meal-specific preferences for each student, restores them during future assignments, stores them with the order item, and carries them into labels and operational reports.
Turn repeated meal instructions into a reliable preference.
A parent’s note belongs to a specific student and meal identity. The saved preference can change later, while previously created order items retain the note that applied when the order was placed.
Automatic reuse
Submitting the assignment saves the note as the current preference. The next time the same student receives the same meal, the note is available automatically.
Shared Meal Groups
Connect different WooCommerce product IDs that represent the same meal, so one preference can follow “Cheese Pizza” across menus, days, or variations.
My Account management
Parents get a Meal Preferences page organized by student, where they can review, edit, delete, or add preferences for configured shared meal groups.
Label integration
Use the {meal_notes} variable in the School Meals label editor and choose whether labels show the full note or only Yes/blank.
Operational reporting
Optionally combine meal notes with student notes in Orders Sheet and Automation WorkDay data, while keeping a dedicated meal-note value available.

Preferences grouped by student
The My Account page displays each student separately, shows how many preferences are saved, and provides protected forms for updating or deleting individual meal notes.
- Students must belong to the signed-in parent

Administrator controls
Configure presentation and review preferences
Administrators can customize the field label and placeholder, choose a limit from 50 to 2,000 characters, control label output, and enable or disable operational-report inclusion.
Preference review: the administration screen lists up to 300 recently updated parent preferences with parent, student, meal, note, and updated time. Deleting a preference does not rewrite historical order items.

Requires WordPress 6.4+, PHP 7.4+, WooCommerce 8.6+, and School Meals Pro by Delyriaz with its student and meal-assignment components available. Valid parent and Notes add-on licenses are required.
Does changing a saved preference modify old orders?
No. New assignments can use the updated preference, but existing order line items retain the note stored when that order was created.
What is a Meal Group?
A Meal Group connects WooCommerce products that represent the same logical meal. This allows one student preference to apply even when the product ID changes across different menus or days.
Can notes appear on printed labels?
Yes. Add {meal_notes} to the School Meals label template. You can show the complete note or only Yes when a note exists.
Where can parents manage their saved notes?
A Meal Preferences endpoint is added to WooCommerce My Account. Parents can manage notes only for students connected to their own account.
Can administrators remove an incorrect preference?
Yes. Administrators can review recent preferences and delete a saved preference. This affects future reuse only and leaves historical order items unchanged.
